Here is my second contribution to the Losing Altitude art book: the Kirtland's Warbler. I found this charming little endangered wood-warbler while researching the jack pine (Pinus banksiana) for a "favorite tree" paper I did for Dendrology class. I love jack pines! I mean, who wouldn't love a tree that has burning to death as a part of its natural life cycle? Of course, now that I know that Kirtland's Warblers require jack pine stands of a certain age for their nesting sites, I love Kirtlan's Warblers, too. Doesn't this male just look so cute singing his little heart out on a jack pine cone? CUTE!
