I just recently got a BS in Fisheries and Wildlife with a specialization in Wildlife. Currently, I am taking a year off to recharge for my next academic adventure: a PhD in either Zoology or Evolution, Ecology and Behavior (EEB) in preparation for a career in animal research. I intend to focus my studies in the taxonomic division of ornithology.
My hobbies include reading manga/comics, writing, drawing, sculpting (when I am able), skinning, and exploring the world of science. I enjoy creating different lifeforms for Alpana, my own fantasy world, and use my knowledge of science and natural history to make them seem viable.
Currently, I am working on a self directed study involving wintering American Robins (
Turdus migratorious). I also volunteer for a lab that works with Blue Jays (
Cyanocitta cristata) and cognition. I am also employed as a substitute full-time laboratory assistant in a lab that studies the evolution of cognition in fruit flies (
Drosophila melanogaster).
